Susan Norrie was born in Sydney in 1953. He has participated in exhibitions at the ZKM in Karlsruhe, Germany; the Royal Academy in London, UK; the Queensland Art Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia. He has also exhibited at the biennials in Busan, South Korea, Sydney, Australia, Liverpool, United Kingdom and Venice; at the Museo de Arte Contemporánea in Vigo, Spain; at the Samstag Museum of Art in Adelaide, Australia; at the Art Mito Tower, Japan; at the Hamburger Banhof, Germany; the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Finland; the Guggenheim Museum, New York, USA; and the Tate Modern in London, UK. He participated in the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 and the Yokohama Triennale in 2011.
