LUISA RABBIA

The Gods

21.5 – 19.10.2024

opening 21.05.2024 | h. 5 pm – 8 pm

Giorgio Persano is pleased to host, in the inner garden of Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua, three new large paintings by Luisa Rabbia, from her most recent series titled The Gods.

The exhibition, conceived as a space for reflection on the vulnerability and unpredictability of human existence, intertwines current events with cosmology and literary elements such as Ovid’s Metamorphoses – also depicted in the cycle of seventeenth-century frescoes on the facade and in the courtyard of the gallery. For Ovid, a true understanding of the world means denying its oppressive solidity and allowing everything to transform into something else. Consequently, a metamorphosis from one matter to another is possible, despite external appearances, because all forms originate from the same substance. This intrinsic kinship among all living entities lies at the center of Luisa Rabbia’s artistic language. Representations of human beings, bodies that evoke landscapes, cellular and vegetal forms, everything merges in her work reflecting the artist’s interest in the concept that all things are the cooperating cause of everything that exists.

Using an expressive and personal language, Luisa Rabbia’s works represent more or less abstract bodies that evoke temporality, spirituality, inner landscapes, and the interconnection between living forms. Despite being inspired by the contemporary moment, the artist seeks a timeless language that extends beyond the everyday and invites contemplation of the complexities of human existence.
